1798 Draped Bust/Heraldic Eagle Dollars
Pointed 9, 8 noticeably higher than 9, but still separated from the bust
Stars arranged in straight lines

   

This obverse die was used in coining three die varieties using reverses with the line star pattern. These are all very similar in appearance, but may be distinguished based on the position of the star nearest the eagle’s beak.

   

Select the position of the star nearest the eagle’s beak: 

   
Star touches the eagle’s upper beak
   
Star touches the eagle’s lower beak
   
Star is near but does not touch beak
